USA revisited

Just a short update. Have removed the saga of the American loo since it has not gone down terribly well (again, 'scuse the pun) with everyone, and I agree it's maybe far too much information! Will post again shortly!

It's been so long since I last blogged, I've forgotten how to do it.
OK, not much happening - apart from greater involvement in theatre and learning stuff. Will come back to this as and when there's something interesting to say…!

DC

Am now in UK for one week for my nephew Robin's wedding. His fiancee Rayhan is the most wonderful girl, and the whole family loves her. I'll be back in DC on 1st June 09.



When I'm in DC I occasionally go to see Jerry in his permanent care facility but it's very painful since he doesn't understand why he can't go home, and keeps saying he isn't happy there, and asks the same questions at one-minute intervals, no matter how carefully I've answered them. Alzheimer's is the most terrible disease. It scarcely means much that I cared for him for a mere three years, when there are countless people who have had to do so for a lot longer.



On a lighter note, I am doing a little volunteer work at Bonnie's theatre, Imagination Stage. Full-time work is difficult to get these days of course. I'll stop now, my great-nephew wants the computer to play a game on!

Just thought I'd add this: as you can see it's me with two very funny guys who took to the old Bozsi, obviously thought she was a hoot, hoolahooping her way into history!

Hi guys, just a quick note to accompany this snapshot of yours truly, 'fairly typical of Bozsi' I hear you all say!

This hoolahooping exercise was in aid of Big Ass Peace Hoop, some kind of PR stunt that I found myself in the middle of... literally.

Anyway, it was fun, made me feel better that I could still hoolahoop (even after the broken hip from skateboarding last year), and everyone around me thought I was a hoot, full of get-up-and-go etc. It was a good party, though a bit too much speechifying and not enough bopping, an opinion shared 100% by most of the people nearby: general mutters abounded of "hey, we're convinced, you don't have to exhort us anymore, and not tonight for heaven's sake, tonight's for celebratin'!" The woman who waffled on for 45 minutes was not an entertainment luminary, but an earnest Peacenik and radio/TV host called Amy Goodman who simply got carried away by the sound of her own voice. An almost audible relief was heard when she finally wound down, and the music began again...

This pic comes courtesy of Fong Yen Lin, who seemed to be the Big Ass Peace Hoop organiser. (I'm sticking to UK spelling, just to keep in practice.) There are other photos that different people took of me, but to date haven't had any luck in getting hold of them. Watch this space...

Obama weekend

Have arranged to do a fair bit of canvassing and phone banking in Virginia this weekend, the last one before the election. All this activity is focused on GOTV (Get Out The Vote), making sure that we contact as many people as possible in the battleground States, and of course, Virginia is one of them. Fortunately it's not too far from where we are in Maryland. By the way, the Barack Obama website is hugely efficient, you can find events to go to, donate money on it, create your own events for others to come to, make friends, send emails, track your own activity, almost bake cakes on it!

On election night, 4 November, we'll be at Busboys & Poets at 14th & V Streets (check out the website) in DC, to watch progress and have great food and lots of drinks! The owner, Andy Shallal, was at one point a board member at Imagination Stage, and he and his wife Marjanne and I have become friendly.
